Finally got enough pics to start a thread. Nothing special but just a gear hauler with a lid. 4’w X 6’l box for storage, will incorporate some cross bars on lid for hauling my fishing kayak. 31” tires. This trailer really won’t see technical trails, mostly dirt access roads to my hunting and fishing locations for camping.

Headed to steel supplier in the morning to pick up the skin material and a few odds and ends to finish up the rest of the fab work

Is that 2” stock that runs the length from the hitch, with 1.5” for the rest? Whats the width inside wheel wells? 3k axle? I’m looking to build a smaller utility type trailer for hauling boats and bikes when the pickup bed is full.

The tongue is 2 1/2” and the rest of the frame is 1 3/4 tubing. Odd size for frame yes, but I had like 200’ given to me sooo, there’s that. Lol. The frame with between wheel wells is 48”. Hub face to hub face is 63” and it’s a 3500lbs Rockwell brand axle

Few more pics and closer to paint. I messed up my lid when welding the skin on. Valuable lesson learned. I got in a hurry and warped the skin. New lid frame is complete and I’ll be using either VHB tape or panel bond on the next skin

Lid I had to scrap. I thought I took my time stitching it in. When I turned if over this is what I found lol. I now have a 4’x6’ dohicky to take up space. I may weld 4 legs on it and use it for a cover for firewood

What gauge sheet metal did you use for your skin? I'm in the planning stages of my build and I've seen anything from 11 ga to 14 ga. Figured I'd do some informal polling.
