In the middle of tearing out the headliner I put in. Just felt like it got dirty to quick. And now very easy to clean either, going in favor of some tongue and groove cedar.

Just waiting for the weather to warm up a little more.
Had a major cold snap hear last week

Its a lot of pictures . So I hope they can do most the explaining here. But yesterday I found an sr5 gauge cluster at my local yard. And immediately got to work on fitting "the goods" from that cluster to my stock/base model.

Things I swapped :

Tachometer! Been wanting one of these for years so I can step away from that aftermarket one I've had since the beginning of this project 8 years ago.

Some, not all, of the indicator/ warning emblems, going from "OIL & CHG" to the
"OIL & CHARGE" w/ the representative emblems.

But kept my lower indicator panel w/ "FASTEN BELTS & 4WD"
since I've already installed a "CHECK ENGINE" between the two, when I did the EFI swap.

Also, I wanted to keep my original "TEMP & FUEL" vs the emblems that came with the Sr5.
To do this, I had to cut off the heads of what I guess you could call the plastic rivets maybe , and then for the reattach of that "TEMP & FUEL" trim piece. I did a little plastic welding. See the pics. Its a why dot of plastic on the back.

The trickest part was the Odometer/speedometer/ trip counter blending.

I wanted to keep my original Odometer, but install the trip count from the sr5 cluster. And then using the speedo gauge from the sr5 since it had the cut outs below to read the trip counter.

Next using my drill press, I drilled a new 3/8" hole into my original clear plastic face, to accept the new trip reset button. (I chose this, because the plastic of the SR5 had a small crack in the bottom center of it )

And finally 2 hour polishing of the clear plastic. Using a blend of toothpaste/baking soda and warm water.

Id say it came out pretty good! Tell me what you guys think!

Did a little camping/ wheeling trip this weekend.

Unfortunately. Got some bad news. Before I ever even got to a trail. My tranny started sounding like a garbage disposal after going up the dirt road to camp. Which was 10 - 15 mph climb the whole way.
So ended up wheeling passenger in my buddies 60 series. And leaving the chinook as "base camp"

It was an L52 tranny out of an 83' 1st gen.
I know they known to not be great. Beyond anything past stock tires and weight . Which I'm well above both those numbers . Haha.

Anyone got a W56 they looking to sell?!

I'm in the market! Sooner than I thought!
