Snow on the Roof
Maybe we need to get a ROF group site going here that is composed of earth scientists, biologists, etc. My navigator buddy Kent is a bug guy and also has experience in biology. We have a great time in the field. Alan's water oriented background and Foy's explorations activities, plus all others who want to join, sound like the perfect field companions on future adventures.

I’m almost a senior geologist having retired from USGS after 37 years. But I worked in water, not rocks.

I'd have to say 37 years with the USGS qualifies you as a Class A Senior Geologist! My mineral exploration career lasted a whopping 6 years before I went back to school and changed professions.
So, is your academic background geology, hydrology, engineering?

But I was in hydrology the whole time. No rocks.
