Last weekend the wife, kid and, I took the old burb on its first family adventure. The plan was to go to Meadow Lark Lake, Renner Wildlife Habitat Mgt. Area then, up to Medicine Lodge Archaeological Site. We made a detour exploring Crazy Woman Canyon and, Pole creek Rd. The old Suburban did fine. we determined there needs to be a couple mods to it; more window shades, a way to egress from the rear doors and, better storage mgt.

Pole Creek RD had an entrance/exit just past this. It looped us back to Hwy 16 about 8 miles back. There was a lot of RV camping that we didn't take pics of. Not very exciting scenery here.

Meadow Lark Lake. There was a good breeze blowing our bobbers back to shore so, we cut fishing short and headed to Ten Sleep.

Ten Sleep sign on gas station.

We left town without getting gas as 1) we still had half of a tank and 2) gas there is higher than in Buffalo. Somewhere just South of the Renner Wildlife Area, We saw a recently burned area. This is normal around here so we paid it no mind and kept going. Well, around the next bend we saw a fire crew and a Forrest Ranger. No big deal. We thought. We were wrong. As we passed him, he stared us down, trotted to his pickup, tossed his paperwork in, dropped it in gear and, headed our way. Somehow, I just knew we were about to have an "interaction".

I was right! Apparently, An older Suburban or Tahoe was last seen in the area before the fire started. Just to add to suspicion, I don't yet have tags on it. Just the paper in the windshield from the previous owner. After a brief Q & A session, he decided we weren't the culprits. At this point , the wife inquired about camping is the wildlife area and gas at Hyattville. He told us that better camping was at Medicine Lodge. and no gas at Hyattville. We told him we have just about 1/2 tank so we were not worried. Less than a mile after letting us go, I see that the fuel gauge is between 1/4 and E!!! So we were left to ponder, is it accurate now or closer to 1/2 tank? When out in Wyoming, you don't take that chance. We headed back to town to get expensive gas. I'm sure he was wondering what we were up to when we passed back by. As we headed back to town, the fuel gauge kept climbing back up to its rightful position. We took 17 gal of gas and headed back on our trip.

Renner wildlife Habitat Mgt Area. There is some sort of hatchery and fishing area at the end of this. It looks to be under reconstruction and we didn't get any pics of that.

Medicine Lodge Campground & Archaeological Site
This site is actually an old ranch site that the state bought. The old farm house houses the grounds caretakers and the barn serves as the campground office and shop. There are a lot of camp spots and many can be reserved. There is even big area that can be reserved with a grilling pavilion and, play ground equipment. There also horse pens here.

Medicine lodge III. The Indian carvings are hard to get a pic of. You'll just have to go see for yourself.
