synthetic line install on superwinch...

i installed my winch today and everything fit quite nicely.

however, i could not get the 3/8" viking line to go through the hole in the drum. i looked on expedition exchange, and they suggested using electrical tape and some sort of lubricant to help install it, but that got me nowhere.

any tips or tricks i should be aware of? i'm tempted to just redrill the hole to 1/2" so the 3/8' line will fit through better.

this is the EPi9.0, by the way.

It just so happens that I do indeed have some helpful suggestions.

1. You will want to drill the hole slightly larger. Start with 1/64" larger. May want to go up to an 1/32" - 3/64".
2. Round out the edges of the enlarged hole with a die grinder.
3. Cut about three strands of the 3/8" rope about 1" up from the end.
4. Weave a small piece of string up through the 3/8" rope and with about 6" sticking out.
5. Wrapped the end of the 3/8" rope with electrical tape as tightly as possible and taper it on the weaved on string.
6. Fish the string through the enlarged hole.
7. Pull on the string while push the rope from behind.
8. Pull enough through to go at least half way across the drum.
9. Insert set screw and only tighten enough for it to be flush with drum.
10. Roll new rope over extension piece that is parallel with drum.

Tip: I used one of these so I can never unwrap the line more than five wraps. http://4wheeloutfitters.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=12
