Suggestions for treating a raincoat

I've had a Columbia raincoat for years that I like. I've treated it a couple of times with the dryer as recommended (the heat is supposed to "reactivate" the coating some how to make it waterproof again). But after my last attempt it still isn't waterproof. Shoulders got wet in a heavy drizzle walking the dog.

So before I go spend $$ on a new one I thought I would ask and see what folks had used successfully for spray on treatments (or the ones that were unsuccessful so I can avoid those too! Ha!).

Any thoughts/ideas are welcome and appreciated!

I ran an Outdoor Shop for many years.

Your jacket is likely fine- it just needs some maintanance.

Think of the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) on your jacket like the wax on your car. Same idea but WAY easier to reapply. Put it through the washing machine- preferably with a powdered detergent but if you use a liquid just run it through a second rinse cycle. Buy this and apply:
