Sterling Acterra Fire Rescue Truck Xpediation Conversion

Our journey has started. At 3: am we will take a bus to Atlanta to catch a flight to Fort Lauderdale. There we will take ownership of a well maintained 2007 Sterling Acterra Fire Rescue Truck. This will be a year long project to take out the things we don't need and convert this into a Xpediation vehicle. Any configuration suggestions are welcomed to help us along the way.

What are the dimensions of the back cab. Looks like it will have a lot of room.

14 ft box with a 17" rear bumper, which gives me an overall vehicle length of 24'-8". Lots of space can be had in this one.

The excitement won't go away. Slept 3 hours thinking about my trip to Florida to rescue the fire rescue truck. Cruising now on the greyhound shuttle to Atlanta Airport.

Let the games begin. Just hit the runway at Fort Lauderdale Airport. Feeling stoked and focused. I know some of you all are like what the heck MAN! Hey once I pick up the coach you will see why I am detailing this journey. Like I siad before it will be some copy catting to get it right and some military intuition to make sure it is sea worthy. It will take time, but time is all I have to enjoy the rest of my life with my kids and wife.

The New Ambo is rolling back to Bama. Things went well today. I was so impressed with the coordination and the prep prior to pickup. Felt like I was getting a million dollar vehicle from the city. Jesus is so professional and really ensure all we known prior to drving off.

Value $ priceless.

I am a retired Navy Communications Officer with over 50 counties under my deployment belt. I retired in 2014 and took a job in Chicago where I stayed in a 2016 Redwood 38RD Luxury RV on Naval Station Great Lakes overlooking Lake Michigan. This off the grid living in extreme weather was cost effective and a heck of a lot more enjoyable than being stuck in a conjested apartment complex in Chicago.

After relocating back to Alabama I tried to enjoy some BTW V8 Trike events. I wanted to make the ride to Sturgis Bike Rally but quickly realized the retired officer budget would not give much room to have a nice trip and a comfortable hotel while keeping an eye on my trike.

After debating the camper van life style, converted mini vans and class C RV's I quickly realized it would be impossible to get the towing capacity, durability, longevity and cool effect out of something everyone else drving to the camp ground. So I looked for the cool factor for my kids and found "Mello Yello" . We now have a place to relax that can not be pushed around by the winds and bullied on the highway. Ladies and Gentlemen please allow me to introduce to you Mello Yello and her V8 Ford 302 powered Side kick Scuttlebutt.
