I know in the past I have used a SpaceCase, great quality and durable product. I was wondering if anyone here is using a SpaceCase as an alternative to the Pelican / Zarges / Storm cases.

We at Sierra Expeditions, have the opportunity to bring in a couple if there is interest.
Spacecase© Storage Containers are made from a high strength UV stabilised polyethylene material; they are stackable and interlocking and have pad-lockable quality catches as standard. They offer ideal protection against harsh environmental conditions as they are highly durable, impervious to most chemicals and moisture and will not dent or rust. Our range of Spacecase© Storage Containers provide ideal storage and transit protection for contents ranging from general purpose containers to more specialised packaging of equipment ranging from radio equipment, computing equipment, and various other specialised Defence equipment.

Product Features
  • Excellent packaging capability at an affordable price
  • Moulded from UV stabilised polyethylene plastic
  • High strength rugged cases- will not rust or dent
  • Recessed protected hardware
  • Zinc plated and e coated hardware
  • Interlocking ribs for secure stacking
  • Weather resistant gasket sea
  • Resists dust, chemicals and oil
  • Made to military standards
  • Large range of sizes

I have compiled a spreadsheet to convert the metric on over to inches HERE.

If there is any interest, post up! Other sizes available too, Please post up which product letter you are interested in, or what size. Pending interest I can get pricing and get these here in the US. Most will average about $150. Note: color would be gray only to keep costs down.

These would be great for an storage under an in-bed sleeping platform. Don't know how many I could afford at this time though.

Is there a wgt savings over the pelican or storm cases? How do they compare in wgt/cost to the zagres?
My concerns are wgt, handleability (is that a word? pelican 1 handle, zarges 2), and cost (with a higher cost acceptable if they will last years).
Stackable is nice in a rear storage setup or in camp so they don't fall over.
It would also be interesting to compare cases vs drawer system. Cases are removeable so your daily drive wgt is less...
but with drawers your stuff is always there ready to go???

AAHHH you guys keep finding all this cool stuff to worry over.

Great find and looking forward to hearing more.
I had given up on Pelican/Storm due to wgt. These could be a nice alt idea.

they look like they are blow-molded? The Pelican/Stormcase both look much more durable and space efficient

how do they compare? these almost look like expensive Action Packers... not bagging on the Spacecase- just want to know your impressions as they don't seem to be the same market as the Stormcase

Actually, they look quite practical for camping gear and such. My Pelican and Storm cases are overkill for most general purpose storage items.

AS for the handles the number varies depending on size and model. As for weight and cost comparison, that's a whole new spreadsheet!

That's my thoughts. I know I have used them for international shipping. They were used to send items of high importance due to ability to lock them and protection against the envirment (such as left on the tarmac during loading and unloading.)
the seal in the lid makes me thinks they are h2o proof
They are. I don't think I would put my laptop in it and put it into a lake with a brick on top with out testing first.

They are rotomoulded similar to the TwoZone compartments. The shape allows for stacking and allows for significant weight to be added above. These are AU MilSpec and food grade units. :victory:

SpaceCases are use with almost every pickup that ventures in the Australian outback, so they should be of the highest quality.

Hey Wil...

I could use a few of these big ones to go inside my trailer (product C)!

Can't wait to test them out......:snorkel:

As a alternative I use Hardig cases that I purchase from a place in Winter Park, FL called Skycraft. They run btwn $70 and $90 and are very generous in size. In the picture below the case is long ways on the roof rack in front of the RTT. And as far as purge valves go there aren't any to speak of but driving rain and 70mph vehicle speeds with the seal side of the box exposed and still no penetration of water or dust.

I use space cases and they are great. They are weather resistant, but not water proof. they stack really well. They are used by the Australian Army as a foot locker.
cheers Mark
