Rigs & Coffee - FIGUEROA MOUNTAIN Overland Trip

Rigs and Coffee FIGUEROA MOUNTAIN Overland Trip

On April 6th and 7th we lead a group of eight rigs for our first community overland trip. We headed north to Figueroa Mountain above Los Olivos. We drove the West Camino Cielo to Refugio Rd trail. Like all Rigs & Coffee Trips, this was family friendly. We dispersed “wild” camped.

On Friday, a few of us headed up to secure our preferred campsite for the group and get an extra day of camping. On Saturday, David and Owen lead a caravan from Front Runner Outfitters. The caravan took Camino Cielo along the Ridgeline en route to the campsite and arrived in the afternoon.

We got lucky with the recent rains and the fire restrictions were lifted which resulted in some great campfire cooking and conversation. We enjoyed home cooked meals from steak and tri-tip to various deserts. The clouds rolled in from the coast in the evening and we were fortunate enough to wake up in the morning and be above them with a stunning view.

Dudes Coffee donated a few bags of coffee for the trip and we brewed the coffee for the group in the morning. We all enjoyed nice, hot cups of coffee while getting ready to start the last day of the trip. Some people took advantage of the rock formations and decided to do some climbing, while others took advantage of the poppies in bloom and did photography. Of course, there were three dogs which meant some dog walking and play time.

The sunsets every night were fantastic and the starts were incredible. We are exited and can’t wait for the next trip in May to Kennedy Meadows!
