Replacing a PCM in 1997 F250

Found a truck I am interested in, but the guy says the PCM is mafled and so it is running rough.

I tried searching, but don't really see a clear answer. Lots of ECM but not PCM, not clear answer if the part is readily available.

Is this an expensive thing to fix?

Thanks

As I recall, that vintage of ford trucks uses a single controller for the engine and trans. Therefore some may call it a ecm, but it should actually control the whole powertrain. Take a look at rock auto and see if they differentiate

ECM=PCM usually. Don't the 97 Powerstrokes have an IDM, injector driver module? Usually that is what goes bad but I would first check the UVC, under valve cover, plugs and make sure they're not starting to have a melt down.
