Rebuilding my 80

Hey guys!

I’m wanting to get my 80 running again. I parked it a year or two ago after I hit a deer and it messed up my front end. I know I’ll need to replace the front end, grille, headlight covers, bumper, and hood. But I need some help with what I should do with it mechanically. I need to replace my exhaust because it rusted out in front of the catalytic converter and its just hanging under my car. Field mice have chewed through one of the wires that connects to the starter plugs and I think that’s it. Do I need to change all of the fluids too?
I’m still fairly new to fixing cars. I can do basic maintenance so far and YouTube is my best friend.

Thanks in advance

Fluids - yes. Alignment. Also I suggest replacing the suspension bushings and doing a check of the front end in terms of CVs etc. Assuming that your engine radiator is OK you should still think about replacing it since the LC80 radiators give up after 20 years or so. If you don't have a transmission radiator I suggest installing one. These are the items which occur to me immediately.

I know the birfield joints(that’s what my dad called them) need replaced, when I drove it the left side would click when I cranked the wheel to the left. Also how hard is it to get the AC working in these?

I'm no AC expert however I suspect that you should check the lines and radiator for integrity, Unless the compressor/condenser/evaporator were damaged they may need only recharging. The blower fan/motor deteriorates with time so it may be worth replacing these now, while you're working on everything else.

Do you guys have an idea of what it might cost just to get it driveable? Here are some more pics

Once I get her running I‘m bringing her to my place in town. I originally put her in our big shed but my stepdad took her and put her in the field.

Depends principally on how much work you do yourself (labour hours are expensive, at least where you live).

The bodywork doesn't look bad, as long as the structure isn't distorted (looks OK from the pics). So it's a matter of buying the relevant panels and sticking them together. Make a list and price it.

Similarly make a list and price the mechanical components mentioned.

If you do everything yourself that's it.

Well I got her to turn over!!! Not sure what to work on next. Probably the exhaust. Could I weld it back in place? Here’s the YouTube link to it running.
