Rare 1991 Mitsubishi Delica Super Exceed 2.5L Turbo Diesel 4WD Automatic Reimo Poptop Campervan
After much deliberation, it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell my camper, due to needing funds to put towards an impending house move and relocation to another area of the country.
I am a lover of campervans in general, particularly 4wd's, having owned many Vanagons, Westfalia's etc. over the years plus Toyota Hilux, Hiace and Liteace campers etc.
Description:
The Delica Reimo Poptop camper is a rare thing indeed with only around 500 ever being produced, with this one being rarer still in that was equipped from new with a full factory fitted camping interior.
These Delica's rival the VW Westfalia Syncro when it comes to their utility and mobility and also come with a more reliable turbo diesel engine from the factory. They also feature Mitsubishi's 4 wheel drive system that was utilized in the Montero of the same era, with a 3 speed transfer case, locking front hubs and limited slip rear differential. Just a great go anywhere utility, backcountry and overland camping vehicle.
Having covered 103,000 miles (showing approx 167,000Km on the clock) this equates to just 3300 miles per year over 31 years from new.
The full camper version provides cushioned seating to the rear which converts to sleeping space for 1-2 people, with a further sleeping space for another 1-2 people above in the poptop area. The camper also features a 2 burner gas hob and sink with cold running water and fresh/waste tanks below, plus a shower hose attachment that runs off the Whale pump accessed via the rear of van. Heating is via a Webasto diesel night heater plus there is also a 3 way Electrolux fridge. There are numerous cabinets and areas under seats for storage.
The camper has just undergone a full interior and exterior valet to ensure it is in the best condition it can be for the new owner.

I have owned the camper for just over a year and during that time I have spent close to $9000 (Invoices included with sale) overhauling and upgrading the mechanics in an attempt to reach peak performance, with all work being undertaken by a 4X4 specialist mechanic near where I live.

Whilst the camper is in good condition for it's age, some jobs to make perfect that I had intended on doing next, were I to be able to be in a position to keep it, were to get the underside/chassis chemically cleaned and any corrosion (which is at present just surface and commensurate with age) treated before undersealing for ongoing protection from the elements.
There are a couple of small dinks and areas of fading to the paint plus a couple of areas of rust bubbling coming through on the bodywork which you'll be able to see in some highlighted areas in a couple of the photos in the album via Dropbox, which are fine as they are, but again if you wanted the van to be perfect then you could have these areas seen to.
I am having difficulty getting the fridge to ignite and this could purely be because it has not been used for a while(camper fridges are notorious for this). I have no reason to believe that it is broken as the couple I bought the camper from were very honest about the van in every other respect when I questioned them about the appliances. It sounds like it almost gets going but then doesnt, to be honest I havent spent much time on it however I will persist and keep trying and update the listing should I have success.
I believe that as with all vehicles of this age, if you keep up with the jobs that need doing as they present themselves then you should have a sound investment for years to come.
All in all, a chance to own a very rare, desirable and much sought after version of the ultra reliable, characterful and fun Delica L300.
