I just got a Magellan TR7 (Magellan's cheaper alternative to the Garmin Overlander) and it comes with a windshield suction-cup mount. Given that windshield space in a Jeep is precious, and not at a good angle for such a mount, I'd like to put it on my Vector e-dock using the 1" ram balls. However, the Magellan has a proprietary magnetic mount with a 5/8" ball to the suction cup. I'm hoping to just go from that 5/8" ball to a 1" ball on my e-dock. I know the "A" sized ram balls are actually 9/16" but I'm hoping the 1/16" difference won't really matter... For anyone curious, I got the TR7 in exchange for a review, which I will post up after using it for a bit.
