Quik Latch hood pins for cabinets.

Anyone use these in your camper? I use them frequently in my line of work, automotive fabrication. They make excellent, high quality products and I had been thinking about using their mini version for my cabinets. I came across this video today.

With the assist spring, the mini latches would cost about $26 per door or about $38 with the nice fancy stud mounting buckets.

They are also considering making them from brass if you want that look

Paul Jensen is using something similar in the EarthRoamer XV-JP Northwest-Edition build here, although the latching mechanism appears to be different?

I suppose if you plan for the hood pin latches, perhaps.

The requirement to mount the pin to something inside the cabinet causes some design problems.

A typical push button rim latch (like shown in Paul thread) uses the already existing cabinet face frame.

This makes installation very straight forward.

The price isn't too out of line when compared to a good push button rim latch, but simply having to literally change the way the cabinets are built, or fabricate a mount for the pins to attach to, kills the thought for me. it adds complexity, and places something in the way, when you open the door/drawer.

Yeah if you had existing cabinets I could see that being a consideration. I haven't built mine yet. Built with them in mind at it becomes real simple. Also I really like the action of the mechanism. Very solid and very audible when they latch. They have a smaller footprint than what's shown above too. And USA made.
