I made a quick run out to the Devils River this past weekend with the Family. Its about my favorite place in all of Texas, maybe only reviled by the High Country of the Big Bend. If you are not familiar with the Devils River, it is one of the few place in the vast privet property state of Texas that you can really feel like you are some where wild and remote. The Water shed is pristine, but is under threat from Chine's inverters looking to build Wind Plans and American energy company looking to Frack the area. No Fishing this trip, but we picked up a new Hood Ornament!!!Drrover7.jpegDRrover1.jpgDRrover2.jpgDRrover3.jpgDRrover4.jpgDRrover5.jpgDRrover8.jpegDRrover9.jpegDRrover6.jpgIMG_0929 (1).JPG

Where did you stay, or did you camp? Devils river is a long way from everywhere...
We had planed to camp, but COVID has all the Texas State Park system booked. So we stayed in a Cabin at Mckennaranch. Its still 20 miles into the River, but it is a really nice place. We stumbled on to it while driving in to take Night Photos, there is a big sign as you turn off the pavement. We had planed just to tent it on the ranch property, but Kathy said she would leave a small cabin open for us too since we were coming in so late just in case. For $40 we could not say no to a brand new Cabin with AC.
If you have never camped there though it is worth it. Particularly in the Fall or Spring when the nights are cold, but the swimming and fishing are still good.
