Propane Chest Fridge?

Yup, I searched.
Seems like I remember a propane fired chest fridge a few years ago. I've found one, but it's pretty small; I'd like one in the 50-60 quart range. Ring a bell to anyone?

I haven't ruled out a 12V unit with the Danfoss compressor, but with the furnace, my CPAP machine and lights, I'm beginning to wonder if another fridge wouldn't be a better choice. I could add more battery, but I'm concerned that the alternator won't be able to charge everything during the day. I'm not going to add an upright frige, either.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

The one you found, is it the Mobicool A40? That's one we've been discussing here, but it's only 40 quarts.

No, it's a Dometic RC4000. Looks like the A40 only cools to 20 degree below ambient, though. That wouldn't work. The Dometic is too small.

Read our thread on the A40. Early reports indicate it can do better than 20C. Seems like they were being conservative on the rating.

Just finished reading the thread. Thanks for the info; I'm going to do some more searching. This might work.
Gasman, thanks for being willing to check it out for me.

Cool! I'd really like that 55qt one, for the extra size, as well as the integrated fridge/freezer divider. That would be really nice. But I think it's just a little too big for my trailer slide. Hmmm..

Can you give some detailed photos of yours? It looks like plastic and metal exterior. Is it high quality, or kinda flimsy?

Any updates? I am looking for a fridge that runs on propane. The ARB ones are nice but I need the propane since I will be parked at one spot for over a few weeks at a time.

What is your location?
I have a Dometic 12v/110v/propane unit I used in my tent trailer back in the early 90s.
It can hook up to a bulk propane tank, or the small 1 lb "torch" style (skinnier and longer than the Coleman 1 lb bottles) bottles that clips on the back.

It worked great back then, but I have no need for it having the ARB fridge now.
Little to heavy to ship though, thus why I asked about your location.

hmmmm, I'm gonna jump in and ask how much? I'm down in Vancouver and would be happy to drive up and stop at Cabelas pick up if it's a reasonable price. I really don't need one, but would love to have a propane chest fridge :)

I will have to dig it our over the upcoming holiday and see if it will fire up still.
It has a pizeo starter on it too.

It worked out great for us back in the day, and it even made ice cubes if set to max.

I will get pics of it too.

Oh, forgot to mention, the Lehman's website is a little confusing. They have folders, or categories that you have to look for. There is a sub category for Dometic, these are the old Electrolux or Servel fridges. It is amazing they even have parts for the old Kerosene fridges.

Corey, your old propane fridge should work great. There are no seals or anything to wear out. It is a closed system. Only part that ever need attention is the propane jet, sometimes will clog up a little. I've also found that if you turn over the fridge and let it sit for awhile and then turn it over, it will work better after a long sit.

I have a very old propane fridge on my boat and after seven years of sitting, it fired right up.
