Hey all, after some delays I decided it was time to start this Pretty Ugly Build log.
The truck is a Mercedes 1835 4x4 350 Hp 16 speed, 5mtr wheel base
one of the 1st pictures I took from the 1st visit
After some deliberation and decision making we decided to go ahead with this truck and I flew out to wellington on the North Island to pick it up
first site after the purchase was complete
waiting for the ferry
Loaded up and ready to cast off
and the drive from Picton to Waikuku, it really did not matter if it was up or down she sat at 90 with no change
The Plan is to build a torsion free sub frame, with Container twist locks that can be used to attach the expedition body when needed but then Hot swap the body for an actual container to be used as a work tool until we can warrant turning it 100% pleasure.
the fun body will use the frame of a standard container with some clever ways to stop the thermal bridging along with composite panels for the walls floor and roof, at the rear I would like to cut the original doors down and use as access to the garage and as they will be solid with a few added hinges I might be able to mount the spare tires onto them.
An artists rendition of what she might become, and why she has been dubbed Pretty Ugly ( Both Pretty and Ugly all at the same time )
