Post your Triton pics

I noticed we don't have a Mitsu pickup picture thread so i figured i'd start one with my latest addition. Post your Mitsubishi Forte, L200, Strada, Triton, Storm, Mighty Max, Power Ram 50, Plymouth Arrow (yeah they came in 4x4 too).

So here is my 1983 SPX 4x4 i just traded my '98 Montero for it on Sunday. We drove our Montero from Mesa to Prescott to check it out, no rust and running enough to drive home was the criteria. This truck hadn't been on the road in 6 years and had been outfitted with a snowplow for plowing the owners long dirt driveway in the winter. I checked it over for rust and body damage, topped off fluids, got it running again and made the trip home. It leaks and burns a bit of oil and we lost a belt tensioner pulley on the 2.5 hour drive home but it trucked on like a champ. The deal may have been largely in favor of the other guy but as i told my wife "we're not just trading for an old truck we're also getting an adventure"

I have had 3 Mitsubishi Pickups over the years and my current one is by far the best. I have a fully restored 1983 MItsubishi Pickup SP Turbo Diesel 4x4. It's a great truck and will do 85mph on the freeway all day long but feels right at home in the dirt. Last year the truck participated in the inaugural Retro Ramble. Retro Ramble is an event put on by Expedition Utah that is done in the spirit of the 1980's. All 1980's rides, gear, navigating techniques etc. Retro Ramble 2014 1.jpg

I can play this game, too. I have a 1988 Mighty Max macrocab with a Starion transplant. Raider gets better fuel mileage, but the turbo and FI make up for much.

Lastly, I'm working on a neighbor's 1993 Macrocab 2WD. Putting in new radiator, belts, water pump and stuff. I like the green. Toasty is right about the 2.4L, way better than 2.6l NA for power and ease of working on.

Would make a nice commuter for me...

It's a lot of fun, much lighter and less stout than a Montero but plenty cool still. It doesn't feel as under powered as the Monty does with a 2.6 can't wait to get a build going.

Said Ram 50's lol, here's my little unit. Alberta is hard on the tin, but still reliable as ever.

Will you turbo this, too, or leave NA? Deeper Montero gears? Rallye lights?

No turbo i think, probably 6G74 SOHC at some point. The plan is to move over my big axles and tires onto this one, about 10" of lift, 35-37" tires, lockers, gears and armor.

4D56-T nice truck, 4G64?

Not going with that one dude's Montero lift kit are you? :Wow1:

Combination of body lift and tweaked suspension? Gen II Montero UCAs and all that 'normal' stuff?

Have you secretly purchased a Philippines Strada lift?

Nope, Montero 9.5" SR rear axle and Hilux 8" front axle under Alcan springs. It's going to be a big truck.

My wife wants me to part ways with my little silver truck because I do not drive it anymore now that I have the restored 1983 turbo diesel and my new 2014 Cummins. But for now she is still mine and she runs like a charm but I do plan to sell her in the next few months.

1985 Mitsubishi Turbo Diesel 4x4, Rebuilt 2.3 turbo diesel with 4D56 head and watercooled turbo. HO 1983 high altitude injection pump. Custom air intake and 3" exhaust. Custom FM145 transmission. Atlas 5:1 Tcase. JK Rubicon axles with elockers. Custon drive shafts, 14" Fox coilover suspension and a whole lot of other crap.
