Dug out photos of my very first sport. Initially i did a jeep leaf spring added to the rear pack, cranked torsion bars, no sway bars, welded rear diff, trimmed fenders and 32" tires. It was a great truck and started my interest in Mitsubishi 4WD's

Hey guys, I've been around for a while but just got around to posting. I just got a Montero Sport and I know there are at least a few of you out there with them.

I'm really needing some inspiration so let's see what you got.
Here's a few of my 01 the camo paint and the rim coating are the newest.

I did a $50 rustoleum paint job on this one. I sold her in 2013 and been thinking of getting another.

Just picked up this 97 Sport. I replaced the shocks with KYB’s and getting ready to install a Smittybilt roofrack, Smittybilt Black Box, Smittybilt 12,000lb winch and looking for a rear hitch mounted, swing out tire carrier...any ideas would be appreciated.

Clean! Looks like you need a alignment in the front. Join the SoCal Montero apge!

Checking in here...

Just picked this up last month from a guy in town. Found it on CL. It's a 2001 Limited with 210k on it, but it was fairly clean and RUST FREE as it's spent it's entire life here in New Mexico.

I've got the engine torn apart now replacing the timing belt, water pump, doing a valve job and all the seals. Can't wait to get it running and start exploring with it!

I lucked out and bought this 03 LS from the original owner with only 104k. I’ll try to get better photos up soon. It’s in near perfect condition. Body 9, paint 8, interior 10. He’s always run full synthetic! He kept meticulous service records but its never had the timing belt/water pump replaced. I hate to touch the thing because it’s running flawlessly but is there a rule of thumb as when to replace? Cheers

I love it when the PO has integrity and service records?.
If that was my rig,, I would have done the timing belt kit 10k ago.

Trust me,, I'm dealing with this exact problem as we speak. My rig is down for the count due to a Po's failure to do the belt in time.
No compression on #4 cylinder?‍♂️. Possibly a few bent valves.
Please, ,
DO NOT PROCRASTINATE ON THIS SERVICE. You will be hating life if you do. Good luck, G.??

Hey everyone. Got myself a second vehicle yesterday. Bought this off of my commanders secretary. 2001 Montero Sport with 81,600 miles. She sold it to me for $3250 and I believe I got a decent deal on it. Got some plans for it after my deployment.

Hi All,

Yeah, I known this thread has been around a while, but I think the montero sports are worth hanging on to.

Here's my little beastie - '99 pa1 (Mitsubishi Challenger here in Aus).
285/75R16's with -20 offset, 40mm body lift, 50mm torsion lift, MK Triton rear leaves.
Spray job is rattle cans from the local hardware store.

On day of buying it, and a few weeks ago.

The bullbar I pulled out of a recycling bin (2005 Hilux), and massaged to fit:

The original wheels I used on a little trailer with roof-top tent for weekend getaways.
Also see ebay reversing lights in rear bumper - small touch, but gosh they help...
