Phone as input device for tablet

I think I've asked this before, quite a while ago, but maybe it's time to ask again...

The more proficient I get with thumb typing on my (android) phone (I'm a late adopter), the more I think it would be convenient to be able to use my phone as a Bluetooth keyboard for my tablet. Especially when I get a tablet nav and carputer mounted in my vehicle. I hate the onscreen keyboards I've used on tablets, and, like I said, if the tablet is mounted on a ram mount or similar...

I did a little shopping months ago and found some apps that might do the trick, in a round-about manner, but that was not their primary purpose.

So, is anyone doing this, and have recommendations?

I had one of those. Worked for maybe a day. If you don't mind the size, Id reccomend a Motorola android bluetooth keyboard:

They're discontinued now, but easy to find. I paid $10 for mine, wish I bought a few more. Not quite full sized, but big enough to use comfortably, but small enough to not get in the way.
