P38 Trail Bumpers

My buddy and I came across a '98 P38 that had overheated but was kitted with the RockRover bumpers and sliders. We trailered it home and swapped over the front bumper and winch. He spent some time getting things lined up, wired up the winch it works great.

For my P38, the rear bumper needed a swing-arm tire carrier which my buddy started working on. Taking a bumper off one truck and swapping over, one would think it would be simple. But the bumper was slightly warped in the middle which caused the tailgate to hit the bumper. As such, each mounting hole needed to be redrilled along with the frame for the new mounts. Tiring work in 100 degree heat. In addition, the first iteration of the swing-out just touched the body, so it took some more cutting and rewelding. We got everything bolted on yesterday and it works quite well. I plan to put a few MFC gas can holders behind the tire when I get some more time. I will be painting everything this week.

I used the Ruff Stuff Specialties heavy duty spindle along with a modified mounting plate and their clevices. http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/STIRES.html
They have an amazing shop but are mostly Jeep oriented.

I used DESTACO pull action clamp with extra safety latch http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006NC6AI

Looks good - I have Alan's bumpers and sliders on my P38 and they have done really well.
