Here is my 01 that I have a love hate relationship with. I’ve literally replaced or upgraded every nut bolt and part on this thing....

My 99 ******** box. Put way more money into this fool than an honest man should... alas, she’s stolen my heart and taught me how to love again.

IRO 3” lift. 31” KO2. HD Steering. Lots of new shiny parts and an EMT roof rack I built with a HF buzz box.

Those steelies look awesome. I myself have been looking at swapping out my 31x10x15s for a 16 or 17 tall skinny. I'll add the Crown Vic steelie to my list of candidates.

So tough to find an aftermarket alloy wheel that isn't 9 inches or wider, that I like the look of. I'd like to find some Jeep Icons, but those are like hens teeth. I may do JK Rubicons instead, and just get a high quality spacer/adapter.

Thanks, they ended up being a lot more work than I expected to modify prep and paint x5 but I am really happy with how it came out.

Icons are my favorite Jeep wheel of all time especially in gun metal grey. I looked for those pretty hard at one point but never had any success. I think the 16” TJ Rubicon wheels are nice too. 16s were as big as I wanted to go to get the proportions I was after. There are some factory Charger/Magnum steelies that I considered that will bolt up, but they to were a 17. I searched and searched for a tall skinny tire for a 15” wheel, but in the end the 16’s and 17’s just have a lot more choices.

Yep, prepping old wheels is a right pain in the ********. But it looks like the effort was worth it, they look good.

I have one of those Charger 17" steelies, was planning to buy a tire and see how it looked on my XJ. Also like you I was planning to spray them in that Dupli-Color bronze. Great minds and all!

I'd be happy to run a 16" or 17". Tire choices seem to be equal with either size. I'd like the 17" since the future brake upgrade I have in mind would fit in the 17", although I have an option in mind for a 16" wheel also. I really just need to stop researching my options and just settle on a wheel/tire!!

Yeah, those steel wheels with the tall/skinny 32s are epic! If that was my rig, I'd probably end up just staring at it in the driveway instead of watching TV haha. What load range are those @JPR4LFE ?

Speaking of tall/skinny tires with 16" wheels, here's mine with some Icons and 255/85R16 Maxxis Bighorns. I wanted a set of these wheels for so long and finally jumped on it. I am running 1.5 wheel spacers with this setup though - it's kind of necessary with the Icons backspacing plus 33s. The tires are okay on the street - still need to take them out in the woods but I seriously just got this thing back together after being on jack stands for nearly two years.

Thanks for the kind words! I have honesty been trying to solve the pizza cutter steelie riddle for way too long. But I definitely think this combo paid off. The biggest downside is that they only seem to come on a load range E. I am ok with load range E for my needs but definitely overkill for an XJ. I always air down off-road so it was not a deal breaker for me, but definitely something to consider. At least in my location, 235/85R16 seems to be a popular Ranch Truck tire.
