Ho Chung,

Thanks for sharing your photos. I got a good sense of what it
was like to be at the expo from your photos. And thanks for the
photos inside the Unicat Americas MXT on page 2 of the group.
Those are the first photos I've seen of the interior. Man, that's
high quality!

Ho Chung,

Thanks for covering the event and sharing your excellent photos.

They provide a feel for the experience that no quantity of snapshots could ever approach.

And, wow, what a reminder of what good glass can provide...

ps - my wife's favorite thing in the entire show was the Geri can. Do you think she's crossed over into terminal overlandness? :)

The Geri can is cool.
I have been in touch with them, as they are way behind on getting the mount made for the FJ Cruisers spare tire.

Doug, you know it's not the glass. :)

Ho,

Agreed the shooter makes the difference! :)

I assumed what you posted was shot with the Leica.

Back when I was a pro shooter, I used our Leicas whenever appropriate. IMO, my current generation L series Canon lenses don't compare with the Leicas' glass from that era. Perhaps that feeling is based on 'soft focus' memories that grow fonder as the years tick off. ;)

In my defense, I've got a friend who doesn't like his Leica body all that well, but still shoots with it because he prefers the glass.

I shoot Canon L zooms exclusively. It's rough compared to Leica primes.

And Ho, no, I'm not buying that M8 :)

Nick,

leica prime lenses are fun. But I'll stick to the zoom stuff for now.

perhaps later, I'll go with a Summilux: 25mm f/1.4 AF. I borrowed it from my brother for a few weeks and had a lot of fun with it:

so, back to what's important: you know the M8 is calling your name. Right?

OV Expo was a wonderful event...hope to make it again next year, especially if it's in the Southwest again. It was great to meet many people with the same passions and gypsy spirit and finally put some faces to names of some members of the forum and vendors. There were so many great events during the 3 days, you could have thrown a dart at the schedule and randomly picked any class, show and come away satisfied. The campground was a wonderful collection of different vehicles and setups - I've never seen so many adventure trailers and roof top tents in 1 location before!

Perhaps next year, a more varied terrain would be interesting, maybe a section of sticky mud, snow :))) deep sand, rocky boulders and some other variation for driving and recovery classes. At any rate, for those who arrived earlier or chose to bug out during the day, there were plenty of trails in the surrounding areas to take advantage of...

Hope to see some of you on the Great Divide this year and perhaps the LR National Rally!

I've attached a few of my favorite pics on the way to the Expo and while there - Enjoy!
