Osmand Discussion

I recently stumbled across a pretty neat app. This is for android and possibly other platforms. This app uses open street maps and also has some pretty great vector based topo maps. I was on a quest to find mapping software with the following requirements:

  • Android Support
  • Offline maps with a reasonable storage size
  • No monthly fee
  • Support random odd maps or image files
Osmand+ is free outside the normal channels (Open source) or you can pay $20 in the play store. I choose to pay because I want to support the developers. I plan to use my head unit in an offline only fashion.

Here is a thread for sharing custom made map files.
