One-burner propane stove?

I was at a big-box store the other day walking through their camping section, and came across an inexpensive (unfamiliar brand) single burner propane stove thingy (not a butane stove with a propane option). It was just pieces in a box, and said max 5,000 BTUs.

It looked very much like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P9GZS...93a2-19f80b9b6b29&ie=UTF8&qid=1543988113&sr=1

It got me thinking; are there any nice(er) single burner propane stoves out there (sorry; I like my one pound green propane cylinders) that maybe come with a semblance of a carrying case? Something compact? I sometimes want to just do a one-pot dish (or just boil water) on my Jeep's tailgate, and my two-burner Coleman propane stove just barely fits.

I don't want something that just attaches to the top of an upright 1-pound propane cylinder (that doesn't seem sturdy or safe). Something along the lines of the one I linked above would work (but better quality - that thing got poor reviews).

Opposite end of the price spectrum - I’d look at partner steel stoves. They make a single cook partner stove. Pictures of the stove in my Jeep are on my Instagram account.

The Iwatani, larger BTU very robust, designed for buffet / catering, powerful enough for stir-fry with a big heavy wok, or deep-frying.

Keep to the original butane for easy self-contained portability, can toss in a pack and go on a picnic BBQ. Canisters about $1 each at Asian groceries.

Switch to plumbed propane BBQ bottle for super-cheap and convenient fuel in an installed kitchen setup. Nice and stable sitting in a counter, don't like flames + pot sticking up in the air.

been carrying/using an MSR WhisperLite that runs on canisters for many years

when i looked them up i now see they are more versatile and are able to use either white gas or canisters

https://www.rei.com/product/830342/msr-whisperlite-universal-backpacking-stove

mine came w/ a maleable windscreen and lives in a small cloth sack

picked it up for $5 at the local flea mkt from a guy who cleans out storage warehouse/barns regularly

he thought he'd cut a fat hog when i gave him his asking price ;-)

when he shows up @ the flea he is swamp'd by knowing buyers and usually goes home empty handed way before the mkt closes

Am I reading here that you are using a plumbed propane tank on your Iwatani butane stove?

mep1811 - Totally agree with your comments on the Coleman single burner stove (… not familiar with Partner stoves). I've had a Coleman single burner stove for years. I'm in charge of it while my wife handles the 2 burner. lol

Not possible, sorry. What for?

If you want to find the propane bottle - to butane appliance adapters, note that USians pro's will rarely have a clue about this stuff, but they're available on eBay through Amazon and elsewhere.

The quality products are from Korea, "G-WORKS" is great quality and service, pretty pricey but includes a pressure adjustment feature, also a variable regulator is useful at the tank.

______
Terminology for the various fixtures, valve connections : male vs female of course

Butane thin and tall like Iwatani: CP / P220/ DOT2P / CP250 canisters (~ 5/32", 4mm)

Butane wide and squat (usually) standard 7/16 (11mm) UNEF threaded, Lindal Valve, aka "screw style" canisters, EN417 (/ EN521?)

Propane, standard BBQ & other bottles, usually vertical use, vapor valve: Type 1 QCC ACME + POL thread since OPDs were required, used to be POL only

Propane Coleman style 1#: 1"-20

To learn more, google the term + the gas, e.g.

Looks like most complete, perhaps canonical Engrish speaking seller is here
