Old's Cool

Really enjoy this thread so far. I am also going to break up the trend of white trucks with my dark blue 94'. I know of 3 other 94's that are this color so I guess its kinda rare. Only has 246,000 miles on the 22re and it keeps chugging along. Planing on keeping it till the body falls off before I get around to fixing the rust.

Fantastic thread! My 03 4Runner still has YEARS before it's considered 'old'. If a 1990 truck is considered old, i'll have to keep this for 19 more years. I guess just upgrading suspension when it wears out, general maintanicne and maybe a motor swap, they will last forever since they're Toyota. Probably cheaper that spending $45,000+ for a new TRD Pro.

I like the idea of simplicity in all aspects of life. Eat simply. Wardrobe simply. Furniture simply. Vehicle simply. Kids toys simply. The more stuff you have, the more you have to worry about it and that doesn't do anybody any good.

Subscribed to this inspirational thread. I've had a few of the newer toyota offerings, most recently a 5th-gen 4Runner. It had no soul and didn't give me anything to work on as I preferred minimal, actually useful mods ... I sold it after a year and now have a 20yr old Land Rover. Plenty of character, I have to check for leaks and bits falling off of it on a daily basis, no conversations above about 40mph and windows down cruising over 90% of the time, even in the Texas heat. I love it but damn, I wish it had the reliability of the old school Toyotas.

Here's my stable of "oldies but goodies"
A few versions of my 91 that has a 3.4 and my relatively new to me 98 T100 now with a supercharged 3.4
I moved the FWC to the T and plan to do more serious trails with the 91.
I love both of these trucks and don't see anything I like nearly as much but I'm now on the lookout for a 2nd gen 4x with a turbo 22r

And yes that is the ironman himself in my truck. What an honor to be bestowed on a yotahead!

Bimmeryota, nice truck! What is your bimmer? I'm stuck in a never ending e30 spiral myself...although my wife is liking her old x5 at the moment too, what a road trip rig...

Wow--cool trailer! Be that a spunky red heeler in its shadow?

Yep! My mom is on a never ending cattle dog ownership binge. That one is a rescue that's getting better with time as he slowly gives up biting small children.
My wife and I have a black lab that's stuck thinking she's a puppy.

Aww, he looks a lot like our little Cinchybug. Funny--he's not much for little kids either.

With a young-minded lab, I imagine lots of loud, crashing noises.
Interested to hear about trailer life.

Thanks! I love the wildernest, that's what got me interested in truck camping but decided after not finding one to spring for the FWC. I may end up towing something like your trailer if our family grows!

I also noticed your 80 wheels. One of my faves. I've got a set I'm wanting to use. What tire size are you running?

My bimmers are an 92 e36 coupe and an 02 e46 sedan. E30s are great and now going up in price!

Our road trip vehicle (other than the T) is a Volvo v70r. That thing is faster than either of those bimmers!

Yeah the days of of snatching up decent 1000 dollar e30s and running them into the ground is long gone. I've had a couple e36, e21, 2002s. My mom still has an e36 ti that she uses as a goat and hay hauler on the farm.

I got a great deal on those fj80 wheels and tires from a local guy last year. Currently 295/75-16. Sort of waiting for them to wear a little more and I'll replace with some pizza cutters. They look great but I never wanted anything that wide.
