Hello friends, I would like to ask for your opinion regarding this truck, MAN 10.224 from 2000 What do you think? Suitable for building an expedition truck ? is it a Reliable model ? It has 200,000 km, it is 4 by 4 with standard 6-speed gearbox and central and rear differential lock. the box is 5 meter long. SAVE_20200202_120208.jpg

Thank you all.

What is your budget? There’s a nice 2007 Euro 3 MAN Unicat (on their site) with 182000 km 16spd and 365/80R20s. For €195k.
The truck you’re looking at is ok as far as it goes but it’s a bit underpowered with the 4cyl engine and 6 spd and of course the tires and wheels aren’t exactly what you would want.

195 k in euro is way way of my budget and any how it is not alowed to import used trucks in to israel.

I travelled for a short while with a family from Israel. They too had the second hand issue so they purchased it in the UK and then sold it on in Colombia.

Ref MAN . Check the availability of parts and dealers in the destinations you want to visit. I don't think there are that many outside Europe.

Seen a handful here in South America

Hi, eilatmar:

Congratulations for your new baby. Sometimes letting you go by your guts is the best you can do.

Sharing any kind of information regarding any kind of truck is the key of these pages. Why don't you post on Other custom expedition campers?

Cheers.

shalom my friends, more than a year has passed and while the corona has hit the world and also in Israel, more than 6000 dead ...) :. At this time when we were most of the time in the closure the truck was standing near the house and I finished most of the project, between the closures we went out for a few trips and had a lot of fun, we really like our truck, here are some pictures.

Hi Eilatmar, great photos and looks like a cool truck. Thank you for sharing. Are you planning travelling further afield when things free up or what are your plans

hi toby3, Yes definitely, I plan to take a ferry from Israel to Greece for the next year or two for a trip of a few months in Europe and then I will have to decide whether to leave the truck in Europe or return it to Israel.

I plan to take a ferry from Israel to Greece...

Hmmm... This has me thinking again... We are still looking at route options from Cape Town to Europe that are fairly safe... Cape Town to Djibouti, then ship to Jeddah. Drive from Jeddah to Israel, and then ship to Greece... Is that achevable? (once Covid goes away!)

I do not know about the route in Africa but from Djibouti you will have to find a ferry to Jeddah and from there continue to Aqaba in Jordan, from there move to Eilat, where i will buy you a beer :) (I live in Eilat ...) and from there to Haifa and a ferry to Greece. In the picture you can see my truck on the beach of Eilat and opposite the other side of the Gulf of Eilat the beach of Aqaba.
