NORTHSTAR and an OLD FORD

Flat Out

Observer
Well, after two attempts at an E350 Ujoint conversion on vans that I wasn't sure at all that I wanted more than this truck, which might be the holy grail of Ford's, 03 7.3 with 71k miles. It's a well built F250 BD trans. and exhaust brake, and a pretty much endless mod. list. It had a Granby, but for some reason I never cared for it, so we're going to give this Northstar a try, it's cherry, 2010, needs solar and a rear awning, and I'm good to go. I can't leave much of anything alone, so we'll keep you posted, as we go along. I live in Fort Bragg Ca. and plan to take the maiden voyage to Utah in a few days.

More space

The main reason for the trade from the Granby to the Northstar, was floor space, my buddy needed a little more room. That's a 12 pound bone, with a 175 pound Newfoundland, It's still a little tight, but it looks like we're going to make it.He spends a lot of his time on a 50 ft. commercial fish boat, so he's used to tight spaces and a lot of rolling around, if we don't pass you on the Pacific Ocean, well maybe out on the road, we'll wave as we pass by.

I tow a lot with truck, doing it right now moving 12000# loads of crab gear, the 4r100 is the weak link in this generation of Fords, I burned mine down in 26000 mi. and wasn't sorry to see it go, put in a B.D. along with a billet converter to replace the tomato juice can that was in there, the correct shift module, and never looked back, the only real problem I've really ever had, but it was one I knew I would, I use it, but never abuse it, and wouldn't trade it for a new one, just carry a cam position sensor in the glove box, $35.00, and no worries.

He's the man, and it was an option, but he takes time, and I needed the truck for work. I don't have any complaints with the BD.for an off the shelf transmission.

Great looking rig! I just sold my 97 OBS and moved to an 03 CCSB with a 7.3. We have a Northstar as well. What suspension and tire/wheel combo are you running?
