Northern Michigan Camping Trip/March 2018

Took my 10 year old grandson camping a few months ago, finally figured out how to post pictures.

First evening we camped on a hill top and listen to coyotes sing. Next morning was frosty, so we stayed inside the rover until the sun warmed things up a bit. After breakfast, we did a little exploring and found a nice little lake to spend some time at. Grandson fired off a hundred rounds of bb's at an old tin can. Ended up setting up camp there for the evening. We cut the camping trip short, since there was rain moving in...and I'm glad we did....real gulley washer with high winds.

As a new grandfather myself, it is wonderful to see a great example of how to get our youth away from technology and out in to the natural environment. Cannot wait until mine are old enough to go on an adventure or two with their old grandpa!

Yes, this was his second camping trip in the rover. Asked him this last trip, "What was your favorite part of the trip?" He said..."All of it."

Best part of the trip for me was...we'd gone to see if there was another lake close by, since ducks were flaring off over ours and looked to be landing just over the tree line. We walked down a short two track and found the lake. We watched ducks for a while, until they got nervous and split. Walking back, l'm looking for deer tracks to point out to him and such....when all at once l feel his hand slide into mine and he tells me..."l love you, grandpa." Back when he was 5 or 6, you'd get that a lot...but being 10 now...it happens less often. So, it was a pleasant surprise, to say the least.

Hope, you are able to experience such times with your grandchildren someday.

Brian.
