I'm sure a lot of you know about this, but for those of you who dont...

http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/full_loop.php

If I someday get satellite internet, or Verizon starts filling in their dead zones, this would be an amazing tool for getting looping radar images on a national--> local level. Even now, if you start a morning in town, you can join a hotspot, check the radar, and then head out. I plan on getting sirius satellite weather on my GPS when i can afford a new marine grade GPS. This will do for now. I hope some of you find this helpful. :smiley_drive:

I actually prefer www.fullscreenweather.com over the NWS site. At fullscreenweather, you can zoom in & out, and change the underlying map. Unfortunately, the flexibility is at the cost of a few ads, but on a reasonably sized monitor, it's not a problem. On a netbook though, fullscreenweather.com is terrible.

Cool. That FullScreenWeather has a nicer skin for sure. I like that you can go between temp/precip/ and clouds

Fullscreen weather is cool, I hadn't seen that before. One thing to note with it is that the temperatures are reported from personal weather stations, so they may not be tremendously accurate - but probably good enough for picking shorts or pants!

Fullscreen is cool, but it doesn't look like theres a way to make it animated.

There is - when you're on precipitation, to the left of the legend (at the top) there is a green pause button. Click that, and it will start looping. It doesn't loop by default, which is nice, I think.

I don't know if reviving a thread a few months dead around here is allowable, but as a weather junkie I would reccomend NOAA's Storm Predition Center mosiac. http://spc.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/

Just pick the corresponding location you are in, and you are brought to a full screen size, no ad page that allows you to pick from a variation of weather analysis overlays. It defaults to Base Reflectivity, but sometimes shows up with the pressure systems overlayed. If you learn your way around, it is a very useful tool, free, and very in depth.

The Storm Prediction Center page in general is my go-to, along with my radar software (GRLevel3). THe SPC mainpage is just http://spc.noaa.gov

Necro-posts are perfectly normal. Personally, I like them because I need reminding once in a while. :D

Haha, I agree. Just as a newbie to this forum, Im still settling in to the rules and all. I figured Ive lurked enough.
