Nissan has introduced the all-new 4.0L V6 engine in a press conference by Mr. Fadi Ghosn, Chief Marketing Officer for the Middle Eastern Region and Marketing Director of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. since October 26, 2015, in Jabal Shams, Sultanate of Oman (my country ). specs:

Power: 275 hp @ 5,600 rpm, Max. Torque: 394 Nm @ 4,000 rpm

Mated with a 7-speed AT, no manual yet but expect a 6-speed MT later.

On a side note Mr. Fadi Ghosn has confirmed the following:

UPDATE: Nissan Patrol Y61 (GU) lineup will continue in the GCC market!

This model is such a sell out to the previous generations.

It's amazing as a luxury car, with mild offroading. The Y61 is still selling side by side (4-door, 2-door, pickup).

Stopped in many markets for 2017, but will continue in GCC market.

Wherever they did that photo shoot is some amazing country!

I am not a fan of the Y62 but for a grocery getter it is real nice.

Cheers

That would be a helluva a grocery getter then! It's and expensive one, can reach around 100k$ for a nismo or VVIP model!

I'm not a fan of Y62 as an offroader, but as a luxury vehicle. Quite successful here though.

That is the northern part of my country, I'm in the south :)

Thanks for passing by!

Greetings

Since Toyota sells a GRJ200, I suppose this makes some sense. The higher spec vehicles pictured don't look like they would be V6s though. The GRJ200s I've seen are all white poverty pack models. Now if they just follow it up with the V9X diesel... the Cummins V8 is too heavy.

I'm surprised they put the 4.0 V6 in the Y62. It looks big, like it needs a VK56!

4.0L is the lower option as the canceled the VK56DE, so this is the replacement. And there is the 400hp, 413 lb-ft VK56VD engine with 7-speed AT for LE model of the Patrol.

Hmmm...
As if the Y62 isn't hard enough to swallow already. Now they are taking away the manual V8 and replacing it with a 10 year old V6? I guess if they keep the Y61 around the world can keep spinning.

Y61 will continue at least in the GCC market until they figure something out. My guess would be 4.0L V6 replacing the legendary TB48 4.8L inline-6 with 6-speed MT and 7-speed AT. The vision for 2017 is still vague but Mr. Fadi Ghosen has stated that they have big plans for the Y61. It's simply a civilized tank and can't imagine it vanishing anytime soon. It's the main car for most of the army fleet here, not to mention police, oil companies, etc.

The V6 Y62 would be completely a city car with mild offroad performance, although it's never a hardcore offroader anyway.
