New "Teardrop" Trailer Build

A little background: My father built a nice little teardrop about 15 years ago. My wife, then 3 year old daughter and I took it all the way to the east coast over 3 weeks, and we had a fantastic time! Fast forward 10 years, and we now have 4 kids, and have decided to build out a new trailer for our whole family. I am going to build a 10' long teardrop, in the Intech Flyer style. It will hold a queen bed, full galley, storage, and on top, it will have a fold out tent for the kiddos. I'll post some pics, and if you have any input, please put it out there!

I like the flyer and will probably go that design eventually, so I will definitely be following your build. Is that 2x2x1/8 tubing?

Nice welder - that was on my short list when I was looking.

Ottsville, yep. That's 2x2 1/8 tubing. I really like the welder. Its been really nice so far. I'd highly recommend!

Worked a few hours on my setup this morning. Added corner bracing. Next step is ordering the Timbren trailing arm suspension, coupler, jack, and fabricating the tongue. Anyone with experience have any input?

Got about Four hours in today. Reworked a few of the welds, and started on the tongue. IMG_3551.JPG

Got to work on the frame tonight. Rear stabilizer jacks and 2” bulldog coupler for the tongue. Tomorrow it’ll be the axles.

For the fellow builders out there...
I built some trailing arms as well
Poly rack and pinion bushings with 3,500 lb leaf springs

M81 that’s a nice trailer! I took mine out for a test tow and even non-weighted, its was silky smooth! I finished up the frame and started on the floor today. Sandwiched 1” foam insulation between a 3/4” exterior floor and a 1/2” interior floor. Walls going up tomorrow. Lots of time to work this week
