New GXV Fuso based vehicle

I was unable to go to Overland Expo this weekend and was getting my fix through this portal when I found this:
GXV Fuso.JPGGXV Fuso.JPG

I have a call into GXV for more information. Apparently the debut was in Flagstaff and there is currently no information about it on their web site yet. I am excited about another U.S. based Fuso choice. Hopefully the picture uploaded correctly, it is my first attempt. I have always admired Westyss' build but don't have the skills needed to build my own. Perhaps this is an alternative.

I am obviously not alone in wanting to see some more images of this vehicle.
A video of the roof in action would be wonderful, as well as some pictures of the inside layout.

I too looked at the GXV website, but as mentioned, there is absolutely no information about this vehicle on the site.

Very nice. Thanks for posting.
It is interesting that the 'normal' setup of the top coming down and covering the windows has changed (assuming because of the Fuso's height).
Man, my old FG moving truck conversion is going to be the ugly stepsister at any gathering :p

That photo was taken early on Thursday. Later that afternoon the guys from Aluminess installed a new bumper (bullbar). I caught them in action.

i checked out this vehicle at flagstaff. it seemed to be really well layed out, and the finish work on the interior looked real nice.

i wish the fuso had some more HP...

pretty sure the 209/269 is for the Dodge 5500 that was there also.. I dont recall the price on the Fuso, sorry...but I thought I "heard" in the 150-160K range, maybe not...

That is the first one off the line IIRC... There are issues with power (its a dog turd on the hwy according to the "driver") and with weight... Things like wheel well storage boxes were left off because of a 14k GVW and the truck weighs 11k as you see it in the pics above.

You dont have 3000 pounds of clothes and personal items but you may be pretty close to max GVW with full fuel and water and a some other things, and you dont want to be on the limit or over... (paging doug hackney)

The pass through is basically just a framed hole with some padding and vinyl covering, it unbolts from one side to tilt the cab, but I did not get any pics of that part.

New cab seems to be pretty nice but the seats are awful....

Another FG at the show had Stratos air ride seats installed but they only offer 50mm of travel (about 2 inches) if i recall correctly...

Parabolics are available from another vendor at a cost of over $7000 installed....... for leaf springs and shock????? no thanks... i will do links and bags and ride on a cloud of boobies for that kind of $$$

Same vendor offered that their new FG camper project would be "north of 200k" so if the one above is in the 150k range, it could be a relative bargain ;-)

Looks like they hit the nail on the head with the...well...the head. Two piece telescoping hard walls. Bingo!

I was a little impressed. I think I was wrong about the price - that was indeed for the RAM 5500 based rig. I don't recall what the signs on the side said - I was in a hurry to crawl inside.

It has stock springs, so it won't ride as smoothly as an EarthCruiser.

Stock seats. Ouch.

No bead lock wheels.

Still no Low Range on the durn driveline. If you can't add one post-purchase, I'm never going to own one.

The roof was pretty cool, and the interior build quality looked good.

Six solar panels, with room for one more.

Lithium ion batteries.

Bolted together fiberglass panels, not molded "one piece" units.

Nice looking complete head with shower and hard sides (telescoping)

Aluminum cabinets (I think).

They are working hard to build a four season full hard side competitor for the EarthCruisers, and they are going to be priced competitively, so you will have to pay extra for some of the hard core off road features.

I guess I should have taken more pics - but I was pretty burned out by then. Sorry.
