If there’s an unwanted 60” grab bar, I’m still looking for one. Otherwise I’ll have to buy some stainless wire and build one out of the grab bars I’ve got laying around.

I got your glass and should also have a bar for you, not sure of exact length but I can check again.

Build is continuing. Shower is just about done, just need to craft some custom brackets for the compost toilet.

Countertop and sink in place, bed end cabinets done and middle section is just about ready to go (I still need to build the drawers).

Electrical panel in place, doors waiting for hinges. Swivel seats with custom base done. Espar Hydronic with the extra heated tank in place.

Side steps put in as this one is 6" taller than mine, wouldn't work with new owner...

Roof lights good to go. Front bumper all secured and wired up. Working on headlights and front signal issue...

More to come!
:)

Cheers,
David

Excellent my friend. We’ll have to meet up again soon. My build is going slowly... much like molasses at this time of year. I’ve got three sheets of 1/8” HDPE (High density Polyethylene) to replace the damaged plastic on my left interior... was given it this summer, and just haven’t had time to pull out the old plastic and install it.

A quick google search has revealed that the vinyl moulding I’m considering using to join the seams in the HDPE appears to readily available at Lowe’s, Home Depo, & RONA. Which should make seams less of a hassle.90CA8070-5375-4744-A79D-920CF46A19F1.jpeg

I’m not 100% certain on the exact length. I’ve never had one. It’s about 5’ long and supported in the middle. I believe it’s standard in all Crestline ambulances of our era.

How difficult was it to pull the engine out through the front of the van??
I’m sure Dave will reply. From what I’ve read it’s very doable with a large cherry picker. It is a huge job as it requires stripping everything out of the front of the van that can be removed. I believe time is the most major factor.

I’ve not pulled a 7.3, however, I’ve had all of the grill, crossmembers, heater hoses, A/C lines, coolant lines, etc., etc. off, and it’s not a small task. Mostly just fiddly and time consuming.

All depends of your mechanical abilities but with decent experience it's about a 1 day job. Easier with 2 guys, especially when disconnecting the engine from the tranny...

Also, we found it easier to modify the cherry picker to pull the engine as a regular one can't clear the engine out...

Interesting Project.

How did you find working a project like this where the owner clearly had ideas how she'd like to have things done ?

It hasn't been much of an issue as she had a pretty good idea of what she wanted which was realistic. She's also flexible with the design.

To be honest, it's very similar to building your own conversion. Same quality, similar needs. The process actually gave me ideas to build another one for myself! I even started looking for a new one to convert, lol.

Cheers!
