My xPo Trailer Build

Started building my xPo trailer. Been gathering parts. Got tires mounted today on spare Rubi wheels that I bought from Crazy Mike here on the forum, adapters came to mount wheels. Cut some steel, got some boxes. Now I just got to figure out how it all goes together. More pictures to come as the build progresses. Hopefully I'll have it done by next summer for the annual trip east to the OBX!

I was actually going to mount the chairs on the xpo trailer. Just kidding. But now you have me thinking that maybe I could mount a hitch on the back? You would not believe the power naps I have taken in the chair with my old trusty dogs beside me. The way the shop is positioned there is a nice breeze through there so it does not get too hot.

Off to a good start and when you get tired just stretch out on the lazy boy recliner.

Made a little progress today. Got the axle made and set the tongue. Just need some time now to weld it in. Saw another builder on the site use a tongue box from Harbor Freight so I went and got one. Had a 25% coupon so that worked out great. Took a pic of the adapters that allow me to use my Rubi wheels. They work great and they are the perfect size for keeping the hubs from hitting the wheels on the inside. May not get to work on it much for the remainder of this month. Got to go away and work for a while now.

Without load the shackles should show a little bit forewards to the tongue.
They are straight looking downwards with the unladen body!

Please have a look:

Thanks for the observation but the shackles do have angle on them! It is the angle that the camera caught them that it does not show angle.

Made a little progress on the trailer. Got the tongue set, squared and welded in. Installed main frame cross members. Made the coupler piece until I can get a max coupler. Took it for the first "pull" to see how it would do. Pulled good and tracked great. Now it is time to get the sides going. Contacted the folks at Fendersnmore for a quote on some fenders. Afraid I'll have to go a different route! More pics to come as progress is made.

Yeah, they are nice wheels. Got them from a great guy! Seriously, those wheels do look good in my opinion. Hopefully have some more pics later today. Getting ready to head to the shop! Everyone have a great day! Be safe or should I say...Jeep safe!:gunt:

Alright, made some progress today. Flipped the trailer over and got the stabilizers mounted on the rear, cut the metal for the front ones but got sidetracked. Set the sides and top rail. Got them tacked in after checking and rechecking all my measurements. Set the box on the front so I could get ready to make the frame for it. Finally just stopped. Had some other things to take care of. Hopefully I'll get to work on it next week some. I'll measure one more time and weld it up. Next thing is to make the tail gate. More pix to come.

Also, my copy of 20,000 Miles South came today so I'm going to read a bit. Found out about this book on the Expedition Portal. Man, this is a great site!

Looking great.

Question....where did you get the weld-on trim rings for the front tongue/rear hitch?
What is the overall design going to look like? Are you going for a box with lid, or separate lockable boxes all around?

I made the weld on trim rings from some tubing I had left over that is the same size of the 2.5 square tubing. Overall, I'm just playing it as it comes. LOL! Right now I have lockable boxes that will go inside with an open top. I do have in mind a lid that I may try but I'm going to make it removable. I'll probably have it sprayed in line x for durability and then maybe color coat the panels to my Jeep. My ideas change daily after checking all of the great trailers here on the site.
