I had the offered tire carrier linked above modified by @LandCruiserPhil to fit the Cricket step/platform prior to shipping to decrease the overhang as much as possible. Had to drill new holes in the carrier and did some additional trimming prior to powder coat and installation. Pretty easy and very happy with the results.

I have some pics to add of mine with the motorcycle loaded up! Our tow vehicle has a 500lb tongue weight limit, and my DRZ weighed in at 278lbs, so I have no worries. It tows far better than it ever has now as well, combination of the longer to I guess and functional springs I reckon?

Thanks. It works fine. Far from perfect but good enough to keep the bugs out. I think I bought it at my local Ace, and since I can't sew, had my neighbor modify it to fit the cricket door opening. It's this:

Thanks for sharing all of your great mods! I'm also wondering where you sourced the custom cover. Also, do you have any photos or explanation of how you added the 2" receiver, what have you carried on it, and how has it worked so far? I have a Cricket Overland on order.

hello @Jafrench. I loved your build thread. Thanks for posting. Not a lot of Taxa Cricket mods out there.

how did you remove the cabinets? I’m working on a battery mod adding AGM and a battery monitor and wouldn’t mind getting in there easier. I could clean up wires add the new shunt, inverter etc.

For what it's worth.. I bought a custom cover from CalMark Covers. They have a Cricket template that you fill out a few measurements. Pricey but I've thoroughly enjoyed a cover that fits with a door for access and their customer service was superb.
