My Journey

JD.....DANG ! I sure wasn't prepared for that.....man, I'm just so, so sorry. Sometimes I look at Tanner & Trapper and I tell them that I have to be the next one to go cause I don't think I could get through another dog leaving me. There's just nothing like a good dog.....and few things more painful than losing one.....I'm truly sorry.....I think it'd be cool if you'd share some of your favorite pictures of Sarah here for us to remember her & to share your fond memories .....

On August 30 th at 4:00 a.m. I was awakened to a sound that I thought was indicative of a break in. It turned out that Tanner too was having a seizure. Scariest thing ever. His seizure lasted about a minute maybe two. I bent down to comfort him and he smashed the bridge of my nose causing a one inch gash which bled for 24 hours. It took him about five minutes to get himself together. Thankfully he's been fine since. We have appointments on the 14th.....

They live forever within us.....

Wow! I tried to post a picture and it wouldn't attach to the post. I shall try again. They become such a big part of our lives. I think the seizure was related to something else going on. We will never know. Wonder whether the Spindle Cell Sarcoma that was scheduled to be removed the next day was cancerous. She gave us so much.

To ease the pain I decided to do a tribute to Sarah on our blog. I was schocked to see how many photos we had taken since 2015. I always struggle to post photos on this site. Here is the link to my tribute.

How old is Tanner? 5? We were talking to a breeder yesterday and she had one of her labs that had 1-2 seizures. Can't remember what she said caused it, but apparently there haven't been more. There was some imbalance or something. Hopefully the vet will get it figured out. We will be with the breeder Friday and I will ask. It scared me half to death watching her. She was so disoriented and didn't recognize us and wouldn't let us get near her. It was a struggle to get her collar on and get her in the car. She stood up the whole way to the hospital. She always lays down when she gets in the truck or car.

JD.....yep, Tanner is five and seems to be going on one.....that dog never tires. I sure did enjoy Sarah's picture album.....I saw a whole lot of Yukon in that dog. Thanks for posting it here and once again sorry that Sarah's time had come.....

There's been a major change at the cabin which began on September first and should last until November first +/-. 18 year old Corin from Missoula, Montana moved into the truck camper. Initially the plan was for him to help out here while I recovered from surgery but when I told him that the surgery was postponed, he still wanted to come (the amazing power of free rent & food !). He's a natural at landscaping (that's what he's done for the the entire summer), works for me everyday, then heads to the climbing gym late afternoon (he's a competitive rock climber), and stays out late every night with his buds at the college.....here's the current status of my truck camper now that an 18 year old very respectful & polite rock climber & bit of a wild man lives in it.....

And here's some of the upgrades that Corin & I have made to the property as we attempt to bring the wilderness to this once barren piece of land.....

A sure sign of success was the spotting of the first mountain goat on the ridge (honestly it's impossible to keep the dogs out of there.....as they say.....it's all good).....

What a transformation. The landscaping is awesome. Thanks for the kind words on Sarah. She will be missed and we will get through this. Stay tuned, we may have some interesting news when we get back from Texas in mid-October.

It all looks great but I can't help but think of the work it creates to take care of. It should keep you busy.

JD.....thanks.....looking forward to it.....

ITTOG.....I guess it could be but on the other hand all that I'm doing here is creating areas that mimic the nearby national forests so my hope is that it won't create more work but will enhance our time spent chilling here.....I've actually added several more islands since the last post.....

It seems as though time has come to a near standstill as we await the upcoming departure date.....

The continued day trips to the mountains only seem to add to our impatience.....to our desires to explore.....

Again I’ve stopped getting notices of new posts here (or anywhere on ExPo). But at least I’m caught up here.

I have the same issue. It has to be Tapatalk because it is the same for two different forum's I use.
