My Journey

Good job summiting that peak. I have been to the top of both of Mollie's nipples but that was ages ago. I definitely can't do it again. ;)

You really didn't like that one! I'm wondering what made it so terrible?

Nice views though, as you said.
I was wondering the same thing and expected some pictures to show us what was so bad.

Alan.....yep, they appear to be everywhere.....

nathane & ITTOG.....there were several reasons why I disliked that particular trail / hike so much and called it "God awful". There were actually 3 reasons why I described it such & only one was due to the trail itself. It seems as though nearly everything I do anymore is aggravated by this nagging injury.....so that would be Reason # 1. Trapper needs to be on leash these days and she pulls and she pulls real hard.....so that would be Reason #2. And lastly, that trail was steep, portions of it were real steep.....and the trail was covered in small roundish stones that made it similar to walking on marbles.....

So imagine a 60 pound puppy pulling you DOWN a steep mountain with a groin pull walking on marbles.....now that's what I call "God awful" (I actually fell twice and slashed my arm open once).....

So we started driving north and as I've mentioned before, we were in no hurry. We were now back on Interstate 15 and once I saw the exit sign for Interstate 70 (east) I took it. We got off on the first exit which happened to be a dirt road into Fishlake National Forest and we camped there along that road hoping that the next destination might come into my mind.....

It was cold there.....real cold.....

After a few nights and still perplexed, we continued east on Interstate 70 and still without a destination in mind. We overnighted at a Walmart in Richfield, Utah......hoping that a destination would come to my mind. We shared the lot with this group of off roaders from California.....headed to Moab, Utah was my guess.....

At Salina, Utah we departed Interstate 70 and then we took secondary roads from there and continued pushing north. Like never before in my travels, I struggled to find a destination. We spent a night at a roadside park in Levan, Utah. Eventually we reconnected with Interstate 15 and continued north.....America has so much to offer.....yet I still struggled.....

And we continued to chew on it.....what would be next.....

Pics of T-n-T put an instant smile on my face! Scout is finished growing, I think, and weighs right around 60lbs. I can't imagine puppy energy at that weight. She still pulls though. It's so much nicer when we can explore where a leash isn't required.

Jbynum.....no to Green River this season.....thanks.....

Riversdad.....no to Alaska this season.....thanks.....

BigDawwg.....I have no right to complain about Covid-19.....it's only been an inconvenience to me and I'm thankful for that.....but damn Covid-19.....

Tgil.....I hate the leash.....eventually Trapper will be trained and they can both run free but until then life is challenging.....

ocdiver.....thanks.....we are safe and well. We found our purpose for now and my guess is that I'll be posting much less for awhile now depending on what people are interested in seeing. I'll talk about that purpose in the next post and we will see where this goes.....the questions will be.....what is My Journey really about ? What is the meaning of life ? What is happiness ?

I've spent countless hours on Zillow looking for that perfect place yet it rarely appears. I've made a few offers in these past few years and came up empty handed with each of my offers.....

We continued north and reconnected with the interstate and eventually we left wonderful Utah behind and headed into Idaho.....

20210410_161908_copy_1600x900.jpg

In Idaho Falls, Idaho we drove into a windstorm which closed the interstate for maybe a 20 mile stretch. This was one of the craziest things to happen as the highway department put up detour signs that led to nowhere. For nearly an hour, I and many other motorists struggled to find a route north. It was insane seeing semis trying to find a way out.....Twilight Zone kind of thing. Eventually we landed in what I'm guessing was BLM land and we waited for the storm to pass through.....

20210410_195913_copy_1600x900.jpg

After two days we were still there and it was on a Sunday morning that my phone rang.....I was startled since it wasn't Spam this time.....it was a friend and we talked about where the roads would take us (Tanner, Trapper and I) and she said come here and figure things out.....Montana was next.....

20210411_152641_copy_1600x900.jpg

We left the interstate and took the secondary roads north.....it was good to see lots of snow in the high country of Idaho.....it makes for a better summer indeed.....

20210411_152705_copy_1600x900.jpg

We passed through West Yellowstone, Montana on a frigid afternoon and snow flurries filled the skies as we drove into the western flanks of Yellowstone National Park.....

There was a time in my life when I embraced these frigid temperatures.....some of my favorite times in this life were spent snowshoeing, ice climbing, and mountaineering. But age has a way of changing a man in many undesired ways and now I'm content with only experiencing the beginning and end of the winter season.....

20210411_164057_copy_1600x900.jpg

We stopped quite often on the 2 lane road to let the line of traffic that always builds up behind us pass us by.....and we embraced those frigid temperatures as if we were year round residents of this magnificent place.....

20210411_163715_copy_1600x900.jpg

The snow flurries continued that entire day and we were so thankful to be back in Montana.....where we followed the rivers flow north which would lead us to our next destination and where we would find our purpose in life.....for now anyhow.....

I understand your difficulties with finding a place. I have been looking for rental properties near the college my son will be going to next year and it has been difficult. First there are very few options and second the offers are often more than the asking price. So at this time instead of having an investment property I will be paying someone else for my son's rent. Man I hate the idea of having to pay someone else for a room. Good luck on your search and hopefully you find something soon.

You appear to have great friends in Montana. I know you have been taken in many times. Glad to see another post and even if you stop traveling as much I hope your posting rate continues as is.
