We continued driving south on Highway 95 .....simply stopping to explore those places with no names in the El Dorado Mountains.....



Often we hiked the random back roads.....





And often we hiked up the random ravines & washes where we'd find those simple things that captured our attention.....







One day we stumbled onto this interesting abandoned homestead.....





I'll bet that back in the day this place was a showpiece.....I even loved it as it was.....

There were the remains of a stone dwelling above the wood shack.....





It was fascinating for me to witness all of the stone that had been collected here.....not just for the stone dwelling but for tons of stone fencing as well.....





And the flooring was filled with personal signatures.....plenty more than what I post here.....





We attempted to climb several peaks located nearby but we encountered the gate.....we went no further than this.....



Such a beautiful place to explore.....the El Dorado Mountains.....

The problem is that too many people show no respect for the land and damage it by going off trail and throwing trash everywhere. Look at how much trash Jerry has picked up and packed out over the years. If the abuse of public land continues eventually there won't be much public land available to use.

My passion is fishing (don't tell Jerry, I might get blocked from his thread ). I enjoy the solitude, the scenery and every tug at the other end of my line. It frustrates me to no end how people trash our resources! I see it in the places I fish, the mountain trails I drive my Jeep on, hiking paths, city parks, and the list goes on!
Rarely do I ever see anyone picking up someone else's mess, unless it is an organized event. I do it not only because I hate the look of it, but for my daughter's generation and those that follow. I feel like my generation has failed theirs!

Jerry, will definitely look forward to whenever you're on the road again. With that said, I know I and probably quite a few others, enjoy seeing that beautiful Montana landscape even if it's just showing what you're working on. Your travels and lifestyle are an inspiration.

I seem to get side tracked more than usual. Spent the last 30 minutes getting caught up. Seeing those pictures from Alaska brought a smile to my face. I remember many from early in the journey. Back in the early '70's 3 friends and I traveled to Devil's Lake State Park near Barabo, WI. We camped there and then hiked up the glacier rocks that rimmed the lake. Mustached, bearded were several, and we probably had smoke a joint or two. I always reflect when that picture turns up. Not Alaska, but back in the day spent with friends. Love the petroglyphs. They have always interested me. Seeing native American dancing would have been very special to have observed. Always love the dogs. Getting ready to head to Texas in 3 weeks. The cabin will be a great place to energize.
