TripLeader! Nice images. You have spent great time in your journey. Mt. Sneffels are the most beautiful mountains in Colorada. Mountain pinnacles, rugged ridges and flowers could be viewed there and a reason of tourists attentions. it is the ideal destination for Climbers. I want to visit this place as soon as possible.
Thanks. The mountains of southwest Colorado are a great place to visit.

Since my last post, my lady friend and I dug out my photo albums, yes some of us still keep photo albums. We just enjoy sitting reminiscing over past trips versus looking at a computer screen. Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to tag along. :sombrero:

February 2011--From the Archives

While going through an old SD card the other day, I came across some Colorado photos I'd forgot about and hadn't seen in a few years. It was from a 2011 trip I took with Ex-Coloradan.
-----
We camped by the Alma State Wildlife Area, a few miles north of Alma.

-----
It was cold. I recall it the thermometer in the truck read three degrees (Fahrenheit) one morning when we were getting an early, pre-dawn start.
-----
We were ok in the tent. There was just two of us, with our "luxury" setup inside--cots and a kerosene heater.

-----
Our intent was to climb Quandary Peak, one of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks. We only had about a week for the trip. We spent the first few days trying to acclimatize to the altitude.
-----
Much of our acclimatization consisted of snow shoeing. This was one of the first areas we explored.

We spent one morning scouting out the conditions of the trailhead at Quandary.

We also made a stop at Hoosier Pass. We had to cross it to get from our campsite to the Quandary Trailhead.

More of Quandary.

This "shelf" area is usually the first place on the mountain that comes to my mind when I think about Quandary.

If you look closely, you can see some hikers coming up the ridgeline behind us.

A mountain selfie. This was about the place where we stopped and headed back down. The wind was getting bad and we were concerned of bad weather moving in.

In hindsight, we probably could have summited, but we played it safe and headed down.

That's all the details about that trip. Thanks for reading, and Merry Christmas...
