I have been toying around with the idea of repainting my hard top. As you can see in the pics i posted, those are the inside surface temps... Black 137 & white 83 degrees with outside ambient temp of 77. Reducing approx. 24 sq/ft 50+ degrees is a significant difference. Im also looking into Lizard Skin ceramic insulation spray on the entire inside of the hard top. Hoping that will reduce the 137 down a bit too.

So after about 10 different sketches this is what i decided on for the roof rack. Unfortunately i have 2 more days at the fire station so it will most likely change by the time I actually make it home!

Over my 4 days off i decided to make the above sketch come to life... I mounted roof rack rails on the corners of the hard top to help distribte the wieght. The rack is about 40 lbs.

Okay, who has a LED light bar that whistles?

I do! And when I say its bad, its really bad.

I started with cutting 1" pieces of edge trim and strategically placed them approx 1 ft. apart. That helped with the harmonics from the wind passing over the fins to keep them from vibrating. It was literally sounded like something out of x files. The wind was playing the the fins like reeds through some type of woodwind instrument but more annoying like a drunk irishman playing the bag pipes out of key. The best was the sound at different speeds.

Now the whistling! Yep, almost as bad as drunk irishman bag piper... I knew this was cause from the steller aerodynamics jeeps are known for. Once the wind hit the 66.6 degree angle of the windshield the air would compress and move faster over all the little nooks and crannies. So i made a deflector out of some left over aluminum from my desert car. It was .054 of 3034 or 4043 and litterally pop rivotted onto one of the fins.

So far tested up to 65 mph without a peep.

Okay... I might have forgot the 4" RC lift too!!! Upgraded 31" km2s to 33 10.5 km2s... I almost thought the 4" lift was too much at first but its growing on me. Could I run 33s with a 2.5" lift with my cut fenders... yes. Does this yj look bad *** with a 4" lift & 33 10.5 km2s... YES!

So i took the overload/add a leaf Springs out of the oldest spring pack and added them to the new lift... because GD im an overlander that carries way too much ****. Oh boy... if my dad was still alive im pretty sure he would **** himself... in a good way!20170215_163915.jpg

I'll be following you from here on out. Good job so far...I'm doing somewhat a comparable job on mine but due to my location it'll be a compromise between rock crawler and ability to do expo style as well

So I've been lagging on my build... I went with RC 4" spring lift with 33" BFG KM2's. Fox shocks front and rear. It settled about .5 to .75" but rides great. Now I can't attest to the shocks (n2) provided but this lift is kick ***!
