I'm waiting for my employer to retire their "off-road" ambulance. Its a '79 3/4T Burb with the extended-height roof, upgraded charging and cooling systems, and the 350/TH400 combo. I told our lead paramedic that I get first dibs! Until then, my lifted Excursion will have to do.

I'm looking to put a recently purchased Westy Pop Top on my 95 Suburban. Did you narrow the main piece of your top in addition to the luggage rack?

Hey there!

I didn’t narrow (side to side) anything. I had to shorten (front to back) the luggage rack section, but the main piece is dimensionally stock. I did have to trim/grind the part of the main popup on the “bottom” where it touches the roof. That is because the Suburban roof is more domed than a van roof.

Keep in mind that the more you change the top, the harder it is to fit factory tents etc.

There you can see the door panels. Notice the cubby I built (I cut into the door) as well as my solution to no center console cupholders.

Here you can see the drivers side. Note my custom Aluminum Chapstick holder! That green thing is Chapstick.

Might be a long shot, but do you remember where you got the NOS seat upholstery from?

I was looking at that as an option. Basically, I'd be trimming the perimeter of the main top, in addition to major changes on the luggage rack. Thoughts?

Here we go! First shots from the top modification. Work in progress, obviously, but the middle of the main section needed to have about 2 inches removed to fit the newer body style. Might have to modify the tent at some point, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Also, just rebuilt the transmission.
