More Powerful Rear Hatch Struts For LR3?

Heyo,

Ever since installing the ProSpeed Ladder my rear hatch struts have been a bit tired. They are old and fresh ones would probably lift it fine BUT Im wondering if anyone has found a replacement set with a tad more power?

I had the issue after adding the front runner ladder especially in the cold. First I tried replacement oem, figuring the age and visible rust may be the issue, but no dice. If you search 'Maxpow 6614' on amazon you'll find what I went to after that. They send you a set, but I only put one on the ladder side. Both would almost be dangerous for your face when opening. Here's comparing my oem spare and the spare maxpow:
Biggest visible difference is the dust cover at the end of the oem tube.

Sweet! thanks. Yeah I had a beefier set on my old xterra and it was difficult to close and actually fatugied the hinge.

No problem- good luck. It'd also be a good time to check if those ball studs are working loose. My understanding is there is a captive nut on the inside of the sheet metal that can be a problem if it strips or if the stud wiggles its way out.
