Moog CC880S coils

Figured someone may want to see/hear what they look like installed.
03 Ford E350 7.3l
I installed the springs (along with the TREs, ball joints, shocks, etc) around two weeks ago so they've had time to settle.
Van feels much better up front now; is describe it as how the front should have felt. I haven't bottomed out yet and feel a bit more stable. Not a huge difference, but it's noticeable. Enough so that I'm looking at options to smooth out the rear...
Front end sits nice and level now too.
I installed 235/85/16 Cooper AT-3 tires yesterday and they just fit. No rubbing yet that I can find.
The top 3-4 coils will touch, or be very close to it once they settle. I corresponded with one of the engineers at Moog, and he confirmed that they should touch as per their design. Looks odd to me, but they feel good under my van so I'm going to roll with it. I've also seen photos of the same thing elsewhere, so it seems right.
After pics.

I have these springs on my 2002 5.4 E250 , I got a whopping 2.25 inch lift up front. I have 2 5/8 bumpstop clearance now as well. I love the ride even though with only a 5.4 I'm slightly over sprung up front. I had to add a leaf and 1 inch block in the rear to get it where I wanted empty. Now with mtb bikes ,people and gear etc it sits level:)

I really want to pick some up but with small tires and a smaller budget, I don't want mine to sit any higher. Any idea what a 5.4 weighs?

Your 5.4 weighs either 525 or 540. Depends if you have a single cam or duals.

Spring number 81366 is direct replacement from Moog for a 7.3
I'd hazard a guess that the 81366 would yield a mild lift for the 5.4

Do you have free length, wire diameter and coil quantity info?

SG

I'll have to find where I wrote it... from memory, 16" free length, 12" installed, wire diameter was .76 or .81 - again from memory so, grain of interweb salt.
I remember their chart was on their site somewheres...

OK. Thanks. These are the ones I've been looking at for replacements on my rig.

I confirmed with the vendor that the free length is 19.3" with a wire diameter of 0.828". I'd imagine these would provide a significant lift for a rig that is intended to use a 16" FL coil...

Yeah, those look like they'd be taller. Hopefully not too tall to align without more parts. The 3427 weight rating is in the same park as the Moogs as well :)
And I found my notes on the 880S:
Ins diameter 4"
Bar/wire dia .812
Rate #652
Load #3006
Installed height 12"
Free height 16.6"

Have you checked the installed height?

The coils touching is indeed part of their design, and the design of all coil springs. It's coil bind and in a progressive spring such as yours it's how the rates change as the spring compresses. When the more closely spaced coils bind it shortens the spring's overall lengthen thus stiffening it against further compression.

As for the actual installed height, I just put a set of cc880s under my 7.5l.

Installed height came out at 14.5". On the 7.5 the coils don't touch like they do on philos' van. Close, but not touching.

For comparison, the springs that were on previously measured at 13.5".

Uninstalled heights were 16" (stock) and 17" (cc880s).
