Monty the 3rd Gen Montero

I would also consider the cost to get either vehicle up to snuff. I would hazard the parts cost would be similar, but finding a good Toyota mechanic and parts is easy, finding a good Mitsubishi mechanic and parts is hard comparably speaking. If you don't mind the effort and time you can save a bunch for gas and adventures.

Parts are relatively easy to find, any competent can work on these!

In other news, my truck is going to King Shocks next week. Hoping to get all the issues sorted out, after I will be doing a whole front end suspension rebuild and will do my best to detail all parts used.

I have not taken any photos of my truck recently but I did my friend to buy one, here is the underside of his new to him Gen3AazVosWN.jpeg

Cool rig I'm looking at getting into getting into a Montero as a Trail / DD rig. Make sure you put some protective boots on those rear shocks! The front wheels kick up alot of rocks n sand and launch it right at the exposed shafts on those rears and will ruin em in short order. You'd think that would be mandatory but many "off-road"shocks don't seem to supply any protection there for no good reason.

If you look on amazon there are tons of different universal "fork boots" like you see on a moto. You could probably find something that fits your shocks. They will definitely get thrashed. A buddy of mine is already seeing pitting in the chrome on his 4runner rear kings from not running some kind of boot, which will of course kill the seals

It has been pretty busy, some big changes have happened!

First off, King has re-designed the shock design and have installed them on my truck. King found out that upper control arms ARE NEEDED for the kit to work. King notified Total Chaos Fabrication and they set to work on prototyping an upper control arm. I just got the truck back from Total Chaos a few days ago and man the uniball control arms look great and ride nice!

Pictures of the control arms will follow

I took a chance and bought some WeatherTech Gen4 floor mats (Can find them on WeatherTechs Mexican website or ebay)

They fit! Well... The Driver side and 2nd row sets fit perfectly (even the OEM floor mat holder lines up) ... however the Passenger side floor mat is perfect width wise but somehow too short and does not reach the fire wall all the way. Either way I am happy to finally have a proper set of rubber floor mats.

Link to buy is here - https://www.ebay.com/itm/WeatherTec...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

MFG part number is - 448011-446392

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Glad you did this, i was going to do the same but sold my Gen 3. Hopefully the other Gen 3 owners will follow and start protecting their floors, weather tech makes nice stuff. Looks really good.

Picked up my truck from Total Chaos last week and will be testing the new prototype uniball upper control arms!

Big changes coming as I just sold my Front Runner roof rack and have purchased the Pajero "CK" (NM/NP) Front Runner foot rails to adapt to my GoFast Tent that should be installed next week. This will allow the tent to sit as close to the roof as possible.

The headliner has to be removed when installing the rails so I will also be applying insulation... Stay tuned!
