Mobile Home Trailer Axles

I have two axles under my trailer both are the mobile home axle type where the rim does not have a center with a bolt circle hole pattern. The rim is held on to the brake drum with 5 studs and a small square tab and a nut.

I have found this type of set-up is not good with long trips, does anyone know if I can replace this with a standard rim but still keep the existing spindles and axles.

Cheers.

Depending on the size and brand, you can purchase new brake drums with studs like a normal axle.

I think I would upgrade them to newer, more common axle, say Dexter or an equivalent. I think down the road if they're any issues it may be easier to address vs. trying to deal with unlike parts. Sounds like you may need a brake axle as well.

I always understood those mobile home axles to be temporary...just enough to get said trailer from point A to point B.....of course I realize everything cost money and time.
