Minivan axle flip

So picked up a super cheap trailer with what looks like a minivan axle in it. The axle is "reverse portal axles". Closest description I can come up with. The cross pipe is low. Can those be flipped? Like the top one in the picture.

If by "Flipped" you mean mount the leaf springs on top of the axle. I don't see why not. this is done all the time with axles. No usually done with "Dropped" axles however it can be done.

If you are talking about a 180 degree rotation of the axle I would say NO as the axle was not designed for operation in that position and the bend in the axle tube is there for a reason. Rotating the axle 180 degrees will also cause alignment issues.

They’re sometime built with a camber. Flipping may mess up alignment.

Axle are not a significant portion of the overall build expenses.

Consider purchasing a new one even custom built to your specs. You can specify width, spring perch location, even bolt pattern to match you tow vehicle.
