Well, as this truck continues to evolve, and improve, the om603 did what #14heads do, and cracked, not finding a replacement stateside easily, i upgraded to a om606. I found a good NA for cheap, plan to set full load adjustments on pump and add 603 turbo to hopefully get around 180-200hp. But for now she is up and running again.

I guess I did do some more adventures with the 603 before it gave up, also made a hitch carrier for my ktm, for the places the rover cant go!

Some more on the 606 conversion. Using the NA intake manifold, it clears the 603 oil filter housing, (I've read it's not the case with the turbo manifold) which allowed me to use the 603 oil cooler, deleting the in pan cooler on the 606.

Welded a turbo drain anticipating boost later. Welded an EGT guage in the exhaust manifold.

Using 603 flexplate.
603 alternator
603 power steering pump.
603 (modified) oilpan and pump.
603 rear main seal housing (606 is non replaceable as its vulcanized into the housing)

I'm convinced if the pistons had fly cuts for the 4 valve head you could slap the 606 head on the 603.
