Mercedes Benz G280 CDI EntDecker EV

Pardon my ignorance, but is the Mercedes Benz G280 CDI EntDecker Expedition Vehicle, available to customers in the US?

Pretty sure you're only bet would be to contact Unicat and see if they could/would locate a 25-year-old G and build one from that chassis.

Less than 25 years old is (for all practical purposes) impossible to legally import and register in the US.

Or you buy a G here in North America ( could be new or used), ship it over to Germany for the conversion and then bring it back to the US.

I think Charlie did this with his Unimog. Kind of stupid that his (or any Unimog for that matter) is produced not even 30 miles away from Unicat, shipped to the US so it can then has to be shipped back to Germany...

chatted with them a while back, and they provide a Swiss registration, you have to leave the US once/year- not to Switz, just Canada or Mexico, then return for another year. The guys send annual renewals from Switz. Don't quote me, but that is how I remember it, and actually no biggie and conorms to 'the rules'. No law precludes vehicle ownership abroad- just gotta take a trip once/yr, or have someone else do it.

There are also a couple of people that brought brand new vehicles into Canada , got it registered in British Columbia and legally on the road. But don't ask me how that worked!

Not impossible, just takes some work and $.
