Hi All.
Greetings from southwestern Norway.
I've been browsing around this forum for some time now.
Fantastic source of information :)
I've also read (and re-read) Ulrich Doldes book from cover to cover.
Just bought a 1987 917AF short cab / short wheelbase fire truck
with 22000km on the clock..
Plan is to build a camper on it - eventually...........

Welcome to the madness! I, too, have a short cab/short wheelbase.

The short cab can be hard on the knees and the short wheelbase gets exciting in mud and snow!

Welcome to the madness:)
Feel free to stop by if you need some inspiration, we live in Lyngdal, so maybe not to far away?

Thank You.

"Madness" eh...... :)
I would argue that the people in here most certainly "are in the know." (y)

I'm located just south of Stavanger.

BTW - Found out that the truck was delivered with option A20,
i.e. the fastest axles (43:10 (4.3)) :D available for a 917 4x4.
The standard gearing for the 917AF was 39:8 (4.875)
